The Rijkmuseum and the Place of the museums, in Amsterdam
Four cities, ten museums, three subjects: so it is the motto of the proposal of Holland for the years that come. The program will extend during 2009, 2010 and 2011, and its objective is to attract the tourism with the artistic wonders that keep the main Dutch cities.
We begin, then, to find the meaning of the motto. Four famous cities refer Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht, the most visited of the country. With an impressive artistic work concentration by squared kilometer, these large cities are home of innumerable amount of museums of great quality. You choose then your hotels in Holland, request a good room, ponéos a comfortable footwear and… ahead. Today it will touch a cultural trip to you thanks to the Dutch museums.
During both years that follow, the ten more important museums of the four mentioned cities will lodge referring exhibitions to three subjects. This proposal is completed with own the cultural and tourist supply of each one of the places, that will be added to the program.
The museums at issue are: the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, of Róterdam, the Central Museum of Utrecht, the Municipal Museum of The Hague, the new Hermitage, the Kunsthal museums in Róterdam and Mauritshuis in The Hague, the Convent of Catharijne, in Utrecht, the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk and the Museum Van Gogh, the three of Amsterdam.
The three subjects to which the motto makes reference are: International influences, Art and Contemporary and Modern Design, and Dutch Teachers. Each of them will be inaugurated in a different year, and on the matter exhibitions in each one of the participant museums will be organized.
First of them it will have a culminating point in June of 2009, when the opening of the Hermitage Amsterdam takes place. There mother, the famous Hermitage of Saint Petersburg will be able to be enjoyed the originating temporary exhibitions of the collection of the museum.
The re-opening of the Stedelijk, in the Place of the Museums, will be the emblem of the second of the subjects of the program. After an integral renovation, the establishment will reopen its doors in December of 2009.
The Dutch Teachers will be protagonists from September of 2010 to half-full of 2011, when Rembrandt, Go Gogh and Vermeer becomes the central axes of numerous samples in the four cities.
