Holland is a very alive country, in which the festivales that occur throughout the year have much affluence and in which periodically events are organized that can be of great interest for the traveller who resists to being a mere tourist.

For example, you can go to the market of the cheese in Gouda or Alkmaar, both very typical. The one of Gouda takes place all the Thursdays of June to August, from 9 to 13 h. In this same town, but in the middle of December, the Gouda takes place bij Kaarslicht, surprising festival in which the Markt and the City council are illuminated with candles.

Also there is one “night of the candles? in Delft, by the same dates, when the city of illuminates with candles braziers and a great Christmas tree.

 In The Hague you can enjoy fireworks in the international festival of Scheveningen that is celebrated annually in August and in that the best specialists of the world occur to appointment. It takes place in the beach of the same name, at which you can arrive in street car. In that same place the Great festival of the sand sculptures is celebrated from mid May until June.

If you prefer the gastronomical events you must go to the Celebration of the herring of The Hague, the 31 of May, in that the principle of the season with a contest of herring dining rooms is celebrated. In Haarlem in summer also a festival takes place in which gastronomical routes by the city become.

At the end of April in this last city the precious Cavalcade of the Flowers is celebrated, that nobody would have to be lost. A courtship of floats part of Noordwijk towards the city crossing the region of the tulips. The floats later set out in the Grote Markt Saturday in the evening and Sunday. Something similar happens in Amsterdam the first Saturday of September, when a parade of engalanadas floats arrives from Aalsmeer, famous locality of the culture of flowers.

Amsterdam keeps many more surprises throughout the year, like the Festival of the Jordaan that lasts ten days, or the traditional Celebration of San Nicholas of the 5 of December, that is the day in which the Christmas presents are given to the children. Also if you are in New Year in Amsterdam you are not disappointed.
