To eat as a king cannot be one more an expression adapted to pronounce in the Kasteel Heemstede, a castle located in the neighborhoods of the city of Utrecht, in the municipality of Houten. One is a building recently renewed, in whose cellar a creative restaurant acclimated in most romantic works of the scenes.

Marble floors, enormous authentic inner doors, ample arches and painted walls of target are the frame of an incomparable lunch or a dinner. The subjects of gossip that are prepared in the kitchen of this peculiar establishment are of Mediterranean influence, and combine of innovating form the most traditional flavors.

The Dutch style classicist identifies to the Heemstede castle. It was constructed in 1645, like part of a already existing complex that included a parish. It was the residence of families of the nobility during many years, and with the course of the time it gave name to the city that began to be developed in its environs.

This castle conjugates an imposing defensive structure yet the luxury characteristic of its interior. In 1720, after a change of owners, the lavish gardens began to design themselves that today they surround to the Kasteel Heemstede. An elegant stroll of baroque style includes profuse woods and footpaths between mattresses of colorful flowers.

From 1919, the building fell in the abandonment, and towards end of the century the restoration tasks began to give life again to the set. Little by little the tourist flow was discovering this true Rep it of the architecture, and the visits guided the castle became a remarkable attraction of the province of Utrecht.

In 2002 the restaurant located in the cellar was inaugurated. Divided in sections of smokers and nonsmokers, it offers promotions for groups of up to 50 people.
