Arboretum Trompenburg, Rotterdam

Between the many parks and green spaces of Rotterdam, one emphasizes clearly. One is Arboretum Trompenburg, a constructed botanical garden in 1820 on a park of six hectares. This wild corner of the city is home of an extensive collection composed by trees, bulbs, shrubs and all type of plants, that as a whole draw a as charming landscape as exotic, a true dream for the lovers of the vegetal life.

Located to the east of the urban center of Rotterdam, this space is a free paradise of the noise and the speed of all great city. It was designed according to the English landscaping architecture, at a time at which Trompenburg was not part of the set, but it was one of the several states that composed to the prosperous Rotterdam.

The inhabitants of this place had the possibility of concerning vegetal specimen infinity thanks to the great marine movement, that constituted its main activity, something that still is reflected in the present with the importance of the port of Rotterdam.

  1. in a school of the municipality of restrepo it puts Colombia zone of high biodiversity of flora and fauna we are organizing a arboretum and recovering a moist soil. we need scientific consultation and economic resources, are a project for the students of the specialty preservation of natural resources. here in my country there is no aid for that type of initiatives. I am thankful for any information
